For two summers, as part of my Master’s internship program, I worked with The Weather Channel’s Weather Systems team. I created new weather graphics solutions using VizRT 3D realtime engine and designed their first SMS integration for broadcast graphics.
I worked directly with the VizRT R&D division in Israel as they developed Viz Weather, a graphics platform specifically created to display dynamic weather data and imagery. The Weather Channel was one of the principal partners on the effort by being a 24-hour weather network. We worked together in the definition of the product, from feature fine-tuning to operational adjustments.
One of the results of my work was the creation and automation of the national Local on the 8s forecast, that runs every 10 minutes. All the data was harvested, processed, and displayed in real-time.
